TEHRAN – Iran inaugurated the Middle East’s largest and most equipped mushroom compost producing unit in Qazvin on Thursday.

Ali Razavi, the unit head, added that the plant has the capacity to produce 144,000 tons of compost which could increase the per capita consumption of mushroom from 400 to 600 grams.
He noted that over $1.1 million was invested in the project.
The official added it cost the country 1,500 rials ($0.16) to produce one kg of the compost last year, predicting the figure is decreased
